HOW IT WORKS

GENERAL

The Sigma Pro is a plastic filter with multiple screens. It combines a unique suction scanner (nozzle) screening technology with a compact design and an innovative self-cleaning mechanism. The filter can handle flow rates up to 280 m3/h (1,233 gpm) with filtration finenesses from 50 to 500 microns.
Inlet and outlet connections are available in 100 mm (4″), 150 mm (6″) and 200 mm (8″) diameters. Filters come standard with a 50 mm (2″) flush valve.

THE FILTRATION PROCESS

The unfiltered water enters through the inlet of the filter and passes through the multiple screens. Clean water flows through the filter outlet. The gradual accumulation of dirt on the inner surface of the screens forms a filter cake, causing an increase in differential pressure. (DP) A differential pressure switch registers the pressure difference and when it reaches a preset value, the self-cleaning process begins.

THE CONTROL SYSTEM – NEW ADI-P CONTROLLER

The ADI-P controller provides one-of-a-kind monitoring and control functionality. The controller works in conjunction with Amiad’s advanced, easy-to-use app that displays detailed filtration performance data on your cell phone.
The self-cleaning mechanism is controlled and monitored by the ADI-P controller. The self-cleaning cycle is activated by an integrated DP switch.

The electronic controller also offers:

  • Rinse cycle counter
  • Warnings – low battery, DP cycle
  • Reports and performance history data

THE SELF-CLEANING PROCESS

The self-cleaning cycle is started under one of the following conditions:

1. Signal from DP switch, preset at 7 psi (0.5 bar)
2. Time interval parameter set on the controller
3. Manual start, triggered by a 3-way ball valve or via the keypad of the electronic controller

The rinse water flows through the hydraulic turbines, causing the suction scanners to rotate. The drop in pressure forces the suction scanners to move axially upward so that the nozzles clean the entire interior of the fine screens.
