Duplex (dual) strainers


  • Available in cast iron, bronze, carbon steel and stainless steel
  • Pipe sizes from 20 mm (3/4″) to 150 mm (6″) (ask for details of sizes larger than 150 mm).
  • Available with all common flange connections including PN16 and ANSI150 (ANSI300 and 600 on request) – BSP or NPT threaded connections
  • Pressure rating up to 13 bar at 50°C (higher is possible, contact Filtermat for more info)
  • Filter baskets manufactured in SS 304 or SS 316
  • Various options including differential pressure indicator, magnets to stop ferrous particles, heating jackets.

APPLICATIONS

Duplex basket filters are designed for applications where the flow of fluid cannot be underbrushed for basket cleaning.

The strainer uses a 3 way stainless steel ball valve with PTFE seals. This design provides a snug fit that can avoid costly and potentially dangerous leakage into the chamber that is not in use.
Also, problems that may occur in certain intake conditions where air intrusion might occur in other designs are eliminated with this duplex basket filter

All parts of the 3 way ball valve are accessible after removing the 2 filter chambers.

The graph is for clean water (1cSt) flowing through a filter with an element with holes coarser than 1 millimeter.
For fluids with other viscosities or other filter finenesses, you can multiply the data from the graph by the factor in the table below to calculate the actual pressure drop.

FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN SELECTING THE BASKET FILTER

  • Fluid type (refer to our compatibility tables)
  • Flow rates
  • Viscosity
  • Temperature – operation and design
  • Pressure – operation and design
  • Required filtration fineness
  • Connection type i.e. flange PN16, ASA150 or screwed BSP, NPT
  • Any special requirements, e.g. heating jacket, magnets, mounting brackets, dp indicator/switch, etc., may be required.

CHOOSE STRAINER TYPE

  • If fluid flow can be interrupted for basket cleaning, use a Simplex strainer.
  • If the flow must be continuous even when the basket needs cleaning, use a duplex strainer or a filter with manual or automated self-cleaning or place a by-pass over the filter.
  • If the filter basket must be cleaned without manual operator intervention, use an automated self-cleaning basket filter.
