LOFSINT porous metal cartridges are cleanable precision filter elements. They are used as surface and precoat filters for low to medium viscous liquids (500-1000 cp) steam and gases. Mixing of stainless steel powders of controlled particle size, precompaction and sintering under controlled conditions results in porous metal filter media of precise micron rating, high mechanical strength and good permeability. LOFSINT porous metal filter cartridges are available in different materials of construction, sizes and end cap configurations. The end caps are assembled by welding. |

Product range LOFSINT filter cartridges are available in the following range :
Materials of construction
LOFSINT filter cartridges are manufactured in stainless steel (316 L SS). Special materials are available upon request (Inconel/600°C, Hastelloy/800°C,...). |
Micron rating | |
LOFSINT filter cartridges have precise filter fineness and consistent quality. They are mainly used as surface filters and as septum media for precoat filters. In order to avoid plugging in the depth of the media, selection of the porous metal should be of finer micron rating than the finest solid particle. The following micron ratings are available : 0,2 - 0,5 - 2 - 5 - 10 - 20 - 40 - 100 micron. |
Maximum Differential Pressure
These
cartridges can operate up to 19 bar differential pressure.
It is good practice to clean or to replace the filter element when the pressure drop reaches 2,5 bar. |
Maximum Operating Temperature
These cartridges can operate up to 400°C (ss 316).
Special design | |
Upon request, LOFSINT porous metal filter cartridges may be available in special sizes, materials of construction and micron ratings. |
Applications | |
LOFSINT filter cartridges are very effective in liquid-solid and gas-solid filtration : |
LOFSINT filter cartridges are equally effective in both filtering "inside-out" and "outside-in". LOFSINT filter systems may be automated and can be cleaned in situ by means of back flow (gas filtration) and back wash (liquid filtration). Contaminants can also be removed from porous media by washing with solvents, caustic, acid, plus water, steam and air flush. Ultrasonic cleaning is used to remove chemically inert materials. Many reuses of porous metal filters elements are possible. This reduces cost for filter media and disposal of filter media. The high mechanical stability of porous metal filter cartridges eliminates solids breakthrough. The precise and uniform porosity of the media allows 100% recovery of valuable solids, i.e. precious metal catalysts. LOFSINT systems, when cleaned in situ, offer maximum safety at workplace, when handling toxic or pyrophoric substances. LOFSINT filter cartridges are successfully used in following industries and products : |

The
above values can be increased : however, this practice tends to reduce
the life of the filter element; it is recommended to design filters
with low flow rate for the filter element.
