Chemical & thermal resistance of fibbers

The following table summarizes the results of two different test series concerning the chemical resistance of different fibers against various chemicals.

General resistance
The chemical resistance of the fiber against the chemical at room temperature is recorded as follows :
A = good resistance
B = limited resistance
C = unresistant
- = not available

Concentration/temperature test
The resistance of the fiber at a specific concentration and temperature is recorded.
Example :
Polypropylene/phosphoric acid : 85/65
Polypropylene is resistant against 85% active phosphoric acid at a temperature of 65°C

However, special emphasis is made that these data are given without guarantee. The synergistic effect of temperature and chemicals (especially chemical mixtures) as well as marginal differences of fibers of different origin can only result into taking the resistance data as general guidance to ease a preselection of suitable fibers. The user is recommended to run its own stability tests with such preselected fibers prior to using them in actual production.
